A 4 day intensive taught by a team of stylists from our New York locations. They will take you through a deep dive of cut, color, and styling with coily hair. Join us to explore everything from wash and go styles, dimensional color, fading on coily hair, and protective styles.
Day 1:
Charmaine Elcock will guide you through conversations and consultations around coily hair, show you the proper way to detangle, shampoo, and prep hair for wash and go sets. Charmaine will help you understand products to create the perfect coil and tips and tricks on how to get soft and controlled diffused style.
Day 2:
Karen Miller will kick off day 2 by demoing the step by step process of a silk press. Karen will share with you how to create healthy, shiny hair while adding movement and body with a silk press.
In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to practice in our hands-on workshop finishing the day with Karen’s go to iron styling to give your silk press a polished finish.
Day 3 :
Splitting into the specialized domains, colorists will spend the day with Alex Nunne and haircutters will be with Karen Miller.
Karen will demo different ways to approach coily haircutting and styling in the morning session. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to try her techniques in our hands-on workshop.
For colorists, Alex will give you all the secrets on how to create an overall dimensional color for coily hair. This includes details on saturation, techniques, and formulation. Alex will help you overcome common challenges with coloring coily hair with a focus on maintaining integrity.

Day 4:
On the final day, everyone will join Akeem Ray in the morning session for the history of the loc method and protective styles. After a demo by Akeem, you will have the opportunity to learn the techniques on a mannequin head.
For the afternoon, we will separate into domains.Haircutters will be with Akeem to gain more knowledge around fading and barbering on coily hair. Colorist will be with Alex for a hands-on workshop to put into practice the techniques taught the day prior.
